pedicab project

In 2010, The Upper Room community organised a fundraising project in support of the work of Mark and Christine Pedder in Baseco, a large slum in Manila, The Philippines. Mark and Christine are an Australian couple who live and work in Baseco. The project, which we dubbed ‘The Pedicab Project’, involves building and hiring out small vehicles called pedicabs to local operators at rates that make it possible for them to generate a reasonable income from providing local transport services.

We also provided funds for a program called ‘Birthing Better Babies’ which provides quality prenatal, natal and postnatal care for women and their infants that they would otherwise not be able to afford.
